Ben Partridge is the host of the Beef and Dairy Network podcast, a comedy parody show looking into the production of beef animals and dairy herds.
Ben has been producing his monthly podcast for several years, and he knows how difficult it is to keep going.
“I don't know how people do weekly podcasts, especially when they are not being paid for it” he says.
After his first year, the Beef and Dairy Network joined an American Network called Maximum Fun.
“When I joined the network I started getting listeners in large numbers" says Ben.
With 30 podcasts on the network, Ben is expected to cross promote and he benefits from regular funding drives. It's taken a while, but now he is used to asking his listeners for money.
Looking to the future, Ben Partridge is concerned about the future of podcasting. He thinks that, with the BBC and other publishers taking the medium more seriously, there is a chance that people will stop taking risks in podcasting.
"This podcast would have not been commissioned by a BBC commissioning process. But I was able to make something that is hard to explain".
The Beef and Dairy Network is now on the radio in the UK and on BBC Sounds and looking at the audiences there are clear divides.
"The UK BBC audience tend to be older and white, whereas the US audience is younger".
